Vegan MoFo: Smoothies

This weekend was packed full of different food events.  As I haven't had time to sort through everything about this weekend I'm going to take an easy route and write about Smoothies.  One of my go to breakfast foods is a smoothie.  I just love them.  They are so filling and tastey.

This morning my smoothie has Almond milk(unsweetened), walnuts, a banana, frozen peaches and frozen raspberries.  I change up the frozen fruit and keep a nice selection of different fruits in my freezer. Keeping the almond milk in the refrigerator is a must for me as I like the taste better with cold milk.  I never realized how filling a little bit of nuts in your smoothie could be.

Ready to be blended

Looking good

Yummy!!!

I've never tried a smoothie with greens in it but I hear they are pretty good and that often you can't even tell there are greens in there.  I'm finding that a little hard to digest but I think I'll have to give it a try soon.  What are you favorite types of smoothies?

  1. I love smoothies in the morning- mine is green. I use banana, apple, and kale usually with a little soymilk and ice. Yeah, you can't taste the kale.

  2. If you haven't tried a smoothie with greens, I'd suggest trying baby spinach as your first green. It's very mild and sweet. DH is very picky about drinking veggies and he loves a smoothie made with: 1 banana, 1 mango, BABY spinach and a couple ice cubes for chill. Older spinach doesn't taste the same.

  3. Start with spinach because it's sweet. It'll turn the smoothie green, but it'll taste really good. When you're used to adding spinach to your smoothies, try kale in them and see how you like that. :)

  4. When I make green smoothies, I usually add two bananas as additional veggie- taste- concealing insurance. Adding dates will help, too.

  5. My all-time fave smoothie is this:

    mango
    pineapple
    avocado
    hemp seeds
    lots of coriander or parsley

So decadent but so good for you. Avos in smoothies totally rock...
