Vegan MoFo: Follow your heart

Welcome to another Vegan MoFo.  Last year I decided to participate in Vegan MoFo about 4 days after creating my blog.  What was I thinking?  I certainly wasn't prepared for the "work" fun and people I would meet along my MoFo experience.  I can't thank my friend at Hugger Food enough for telling me about it.  What a whirlwind but tons of fun.  It seems like we were just doing this yesterday who knew a year could go by so quickly.

I've been thinking about a theme as it seems many people have one during Vegan MoFo.  With no further adieu here is mine.  Each day I will post about a new place  I've eaten at or a new recipe I've made.  You will see my successes and failures  (hoping there are none of those) in the kitchen.  I'm looking forward to the month of October and finding some new blogs to read as well as new friends.  Hope you enjoy!

I'd been dreaming about going to Follow Your Heart for about a year now.  Somehow I hadn't made it there but finally the chance arrived and I jumped at it.  The Jolly Fox and I made it over there before our trip to a nearby farm.

Lorenzo's Tofu Eggwich

Rueben with Cottage Cheese Tofu

It was worth the wait!  We decided to split Lorenzo's Tofu sandwich ~ A grilled tofu pattie, tomato and "pastrami" wheatmeat with avacado and vegenaise on their homemade english muffin.  Boy what a treat.  Lucky we got reubens as well or The Jolly Fox may have left very hungry.

We both decided to get the Reuben,  one with Cottage Style Tofu and the other with Vegan cheese.  This way we could try both styles.  The vegan cheese reuben was tasty and a bit more like your "classic reuben" but for me the winner was the cottage cheese style reuben.  Boy was it tasty and not made an impression on me,  Writing this I'm drooling a little thinking about these sandwiches.  I can't wait to head back there for some other food treats.

Happy MoFo'ing!  Looking forward to our month of vegan food blogging.

  2. So jealous! Isn't the reuben at FYH wonderful? It's simple but tangy and delicious. When I first discovered FYH after I stopped eating meat, I'd drive to their grocery store/diner several times a month to eat the reuben and then buy groceries so that I could make it at home. It's quite an addictive sandwich!

    Happy MoFo-ing! :)

  4. I've never had a reuben before, but since become vegan I've never wanted to try one so bad! You're so lucky, I would love to have one of those in front of me right now.
