Curried Peanut Butter What?

First RAIN of the fall this morning so what might I post about today???  You guessed it ice cream.  I've been having a great time using my ice cream maker.  In fact I even borrowed my neighbors bowl so  I could make 2 batches within a few minutes of each other.

As I was  tearing through glancing over my copy of Vegan a la Mode I found this recipe for curried peanut butter ice cream.  Interesting flavors,  my ice cream maker was calling.  The ingredients in this recipe are blended together then chilled in the refrigerator before being put into the ice cream machine.  So EASY..... wait maybe I shouldn't share that part.  This was really really hard to make.... hours of time went into it.

As I mentioned in a previous post I sent some over to my neighbors.  This was one of them, Curried Peanut Butter Ice Cream.  So rich and creamy.  Delicious.  Of the two ice creams I've made this was my preference.  My friend told me they did a taste test with my ice creams and her boyfriend's favorite mocha chocolate chip gelato.  I wanted to call a PARTY FOUL as it seemed like the deck was stacked against me.  She informed me that his favorite ice cream was MINE!  Oh yeah that's right.  Picture me doing a little victory dance.  He loved the "easy as pumpkin pie" ice cream.  Thilled. No other word for it.

Armed with this new information I brought what was left of my ice cream to work.  HUGE hit.  Most people preferred the Easy as Pumpkin pie ice cream.  Maybe it's because it's fall?  Only one other person preferred the Curried Peanut Butter.  But everyone LOVED them.  Huge smile on my face.  I'm thinking ice cream might be a great holiday gift.  Changing minds about vegan ice cream one scoop at a time!

What's your favorite ice cream?  Favorite recipe from Vegan a la Mode?

  2. That's kind of a strange and awesome idea! I never would have thought it. I've considered getting Vegan a la Mode, especially now that I have an ice cream maker.

    1. I am loving Vegan a la Mode. I have also made the corn ice cream and the Hot Chocolate (but did some different things to it). So far I've liked everything. The Curried Peanut Butter did seem a little weird but it had just a hint of curry in the flavor not overpowering at all.

  3. I have an ice cream maker as of about a month ago but I've been too afraid to use it. It doesn't seem difficult, but there's this mental block... I'd probably start with coffee ice cream or butter pecan (vegan of course!).

    1. I have been eyeing a butter pecan recipe.... might have to make it. The longest amount of time is prepping the batter. In some cases no cook time is needed. I think you will enjoy you homemade treats!

  4. I love Vegan a la Mode so much! I love that Hannah doesn't just use the same ice cream base for every recipe and just change the flavour, like other ice cream books seem to. My favourite so far has probably been the peanut butter bomb ice cream. I also made the French vanilla recently, just because I had all the ingredients already, and it was awesome! It totally exceeded my expectations.
